Brilliant day Codding

Managed to steal a couple of hours in the day today, several Dog fish and whiting plagued us until the top of the tide, then the first Codling came to the boat probably about 5 and ahalf pound, having secured cuttle and shed loads of Black lug we were in for an entertaining day, hopefully.
Although local charter boats and leisure boats reporting poor fishing, it just looked a proper coddy day.
I took a mate out with me who seemed hell bent in catching as many whiting as possible on black lug, it was obvious the Cod were not interested in worm at all, as I caught the third Cod of the day on whole cuttle.

I told my mate to load up with cuttle, but he wouldn't, he said he really couldn't be bothered messing around with it.

I then realised what he really meant he was feeling slightly squeasy/sick, to be honest cuttle does smell and is messy to work with.

I let Gary carry on until I had an almighty thump again and I was into my Fourth Cod, I looked round and told Gary to pull this one in for me, I explained that I was too tired, proof in the pudding he gingerly got up, unsteady on his feet, first sign my old mate was starting to loose it abit.

But Gaz played the 17lb monster up to the surface and into an awaiting net and is seen below in the photo.
Great Day good company and wicked fishing, lovely when it all comes together.

Here I am with a couple sporting a christmas double speckled hen chin....must loose some weight me thinks???
