Portland Saturday

I'm planning on taking the Lady Rita down to Portland on Saturday. Hoping to get out over the Shambles bank after a Turbot. Forecast not looking good though. SW 16mph wind

Should still be OK for a bit of wrasse bashing in the leeward side of Portland Bill though. I wonder if those Bluefin tuna are still about

Not much to report really. The Sailing academy at Portland was closed for a regatta. So it was a last minute panic to find an alternative slipway. Ended up using the one at Castletown. Quite a nice slipway, but a bit dependent on the state of tide. Tried for some mackies along the east side of portland bill, but the tide was running so fast that we gave up on that & moved closer inshore to try for a wrasse or two. Picked up a few wrasse & a couple of takable pollack. Then the wind became a bit strong for comfort, so we beat a hasty retreat into t Portland harbour. A few more wrasse, small pollack, a nice cuckoo wrasse & a small bream & we decided to call it a day. A combination of strong winds & tides had made it very hard work, but we still had an enjoyable day.
