| Re: Sea sickness Hi Bill, Some people are prone to seasickness and there is nothing that they can do about it. Other people can go out on boats and never ever get sick. However there are those who go out some times and get sick but not always. There are a few tips that can prevent those occasions. Number 1: Never drink alcohol the night before you go out. 2: Always have a goods night sleep. 3: Leave yourself with pleanty of time to get to your destination, so that you are relaxed and not under any stress or tention. 4: Have a good breakfast before you leave. 5: Dont drink alcohol or fizzy drinks when on board. 6: Carry a bottle of water with you for your drinks. 7: Don't hide yourself away from the other crew, keep chatting to keep your mind off thinking that you will be sick. I am sure that there are other old fisherman remedies that some of the other members will come up with but these I am sure will help. Some folk say that cubes of ginger help, I cannot comment. I am out on Meridian Express this Sunday, I will make some enquiries for you. Cheers __________________ All that Glitters is not Gold Secretary of The Blandford Sea Angling Club |

| Re: Sea sickness Bill if theres a storm coming we usually get blind drunk, that works. Ive never been sick myself but a lot of lads take stugerons before sailing,in very bad weather i find the best place is on the bridge looking at the horizon,or strapped in your pit. Tell you what though Bill imagine a 2 week cruise if you suffered from sea sickness,NIGHTMARE ![]() |

| Re: Sea sickness Depends if the sea-sickness is being caused by fear or equilibrium problems. To deal with the latter it helps to stay on deck, keep warm and have the horizon in view. What you eat seems also to affect the problem. Alcohol is definitely a 'no no'. Stay away from steak and cheese, being more difficult to digest. Do munch on ginger biscuits. If you're sure you're gonna be sick - eat porridge - tastes the same 'in & out' and smoother than marmite and toast Audi Pills, patches, magnets etc etc do work for some peeps. We've also proved that very mild indigestion tablets can work when used as a placebo - peeps believed they were using an expensive proprietry pill. So take/ do what you believe is going to work for you. Try 'em all till you find the one The ultimate cure for sea sickness is to - " Sit under a tree" __________________ * <0((fluff))< " 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water " |

| Re: Sea sickness Although I was only ever sick once and that was after a stomach bug (well, who would miss out on a trip!!) I would never ever go to sea without my ‘sealegs’! Take the night before and in the morning of the trip and you will not even think about it. Do as the others say, like no alcohol the night before (tab’s suggest you don’t), a good breakfast and a good nights rest and you will be fine. I will just add that it can very often (not always) be psychological so bare that in mind too. Happy fishing matey. Kiwi. __________________ Kia ora / Dia dhuit. - Matauranga kei ana kaha.
