Newbie questions :)

I'm not quite sure how dumb they are, but... If someone has the patience, I have a few newbie questions... Stuff that I just don't seem to be able to find out, presumably because everyone else already knows it! :)

1. I've seen the YouTube videos of anglers landing insane 700lb tuna, and it seems beyond belief that a wee bendy fishing line and any kind of monofilament could do the job... You can buy 200lb mono I see, but it's rare, and 30-40lb seems to be as high as a lot of retailers go. Just how much lb of mono do you need per lb of fish? I guess the same question applies to rods, a '50lb class' rod seems about the most you can get, so presumably that is suitable (in the hands of an expert) for landing a monster?

2. I've read, and understand about the test curve, but if a rod has a 10lb test curve, what does that mean in terms of its class and breaking strain?

3. Do all reals have a drag/slip/brake mechanism?

4. Do all reels have the clicky ratchet thing that makes a noise as the line exceeds the drag setting?

Regards,
M.
