Chichester Harbour fishing? quick response :)

Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you could give me any advice for fishing in the Chichester Harbour. A friend and I went yesterday from a yacht with 2 rods, rigged with a set of four feathers connected to a dexter wedge (one with 28gms and one with 80gms) and we caught one mackerel (this mornings breakfast), and had a couple of bites. We are hoping to go out again today, starting at Dell Quay and going to Itchenor, we were wondering when is the best time to fish in relation to the tides? we will also spend up to an hour stationary fishing with ragworm. any advice for either strategies would be welcome.

Tight lines
Ben
P.S quick response needed as we will be leaving soon.

try an hour either side of the flood drifting with a dexters or if you can get them live sandeels - they will outfish everything by a country mile !
For fishing on the bottom fish an hour before low water and upto 2 hours after ( until the tide forces the weed back through )..
Theres plenty bream about so rag tipped with squid or lug/squid should find them .

Hi Andy,

Access involves a walk here as most of the foreshore has been cordoned off by the sailing club but the fishing can be very good here especially in spring and summer with some very big smoothound and bass being caught, there is also a good chance of early summer tope here with low tide/early flood being the easiest to fish. Get there by parking at the end of southwood road, going through the gap between the houses and then and then turning left and walking about 400 metres along the beach until you reach the entrance.

I hope this will help, Google maps is good for a genral location.

I have caught many fish there using standard Angie rigs, large Maccy strips and Sand Eels are good bait.

Cant beat a bit of lure fishing tho.

Gook Luck..
