Re: help needed with my seagull Could be several things, dirt in the carb, fuel starvation, air starvation, too much intake of air through carb,(or not enough) fuel too old is another one, corrosion on the Ht lead to plug, spark plug....the list is endless but theres a few common ones as above, these engines are pretty bomb proof! ![]()

Re: help needed with my seagull Thanks CC will start to go through the list, actually just had the carb to bits and found some sludge in it and also in the bottom of the tank

Have you a translucent piece of tube between the tank and carb? If memory serves me right if you unscrew the tap on the tank it reveals a micro mesh which sits on top, this also gets gunked up and may need cleaning, I think its the combination of the oil and petrol mix. Good luck Jason |

Re: help needed with my seagull Yes there is a clear plastic pipe between the carb and the tank, had to clean it out as there was a residue gathering on the curve of it. thanks

Re: help needed with my seagull I have this problem with my seagull it's definitely carb I would say I carry a spanner with me on every trip on our dinghy could be the fuel mix i s too thick as I have measured properly now which is difficult to do when ur bobbing up Nd down when u tip the engine or stop the fuel evaporates and leaves oil on the carb button so I just unscrew it it push it up and down a few times and hey presto !!! Frustrating but hey it's not electric so it's ezy and Cheap to fix
