Re: wreck fishing First run of spring Pollack on the wrecks means its usually a hunt around 3 or 4 wrecks to find the fish ..If the skippers already been out he will hav ea good idea where the fish are holding and also what they were being caught on..If he hasn't got any live eels then i would suggest 6" firetail worms or 4" shads .. bit early for any cod to be showing so stick with black/orange tail or dark shads .. 5 ft 25lb clear mono ( amnesia is the best for this ) with a swivel joining another 5 ft of 20lb mono to a 4/0 bigmouth .. Be prepared to go as many as 50 turns up in the water to find the position of the shoal on the wreck /. Bollox, i wish i was going ![]() on the other side if its a smaller tide you will be after Ling and Conger so mackerel fillet on 8/0 is all you will need .. __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: wreck fishing Hi C-D, welcome to the forum, As S&M said, just arm yourself with different sort of lures, sidewinders are the "IN" lure but shads and jelly worms all work, different colours are a must, orange works one day and white the next. Hope you have a good trip. ![]() __________________ Poor prep= Pathetic Performance

Re: wreck fishing Carl get some shads, (look like sprats) and a packet of sidewinders, jellies are good especially the fire tails, if you get two or three fish on one jelly you're doing well. ![]() __________________ Poor prep= Pathetic Performance

Re: wreck fishing Yep, some of the cheaper import worms are too soft and the pollack destroy them ! get a pack of 10 4" shads - the two tone ones are good in blue and white ..Later in the spring its a whole different ball game and the cod move onto the wrecks where the brighter the lure the better - bright reds, glow orange etc .. strangely pollack have no real interest in htese but will 'hit' these lures - usually out of temper rather than the want to feed ! I advise against using the brown coloured worms as they seem to attract monster pout ... don't be afraid to copy what the others are doing .. I used to outfish everyone on the boat in our comps and would reel in , unhook as quick as i could and then drop the lure into the depths before people could get a good look at what i was using ...with any luck you will get over the fish and they wont be gorged on sprats .. good luck mate __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: wreck fishing what size hooks should i get for the jelly worms i got some 4/0 and 6/0

Re: wreck fishing depends what hooks they are m8 . i use 4/0 varivas 'big mouths' but they are a 'wide gape' hook and are great for jellies .. if they are strong hooks and the point sits wll clear then use the 4/0's ( even uptide viking type 4/0s are good ) .. avoid aberdeens or other fine wire hooks as well as o'shaughnessys .. __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting
