| Never knock the pout ! Got out after a few missed chances recently - steamed out of Exmouth marina and up the estuary to be greeted by flat seas and brilliant sun. Only having 3 hours to fish we settled for trying two inshore wrecks - Bretagne & Lord Stewart - unfortunately the Bretagne showed sod all on the finder and nothing coming to lures so we moved to the LS. Showed some life on the wreck and whilst the lures failed we did have great fun on bass rods landing 8 decent pouts all of which were up round the 3lb mark - had three in one go on a bass rod was great. Anyway failed in our hunt for the pollack but as its not really the time for them to be there in big numbers we werent too dissapppinted - steamed back in after a coffee to even flatter seas, amazing sun and for all the world it looked like mid summer. Berthed her and looking forward to Jan, Feb & March when we hope to get out some 20 - 30 miles for some pollack. Not a bad christmas fish though and just nice to be out. __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up ! |
