Going to be fishingfor skate next season and was wondering if any one has any suggestions for reel/rod combos on a budget! thanks

I am sure there are many more modern ideas but my combo was a tuna taker and a penn 6/0, that combination did manage the odd one or two skate in the past

If your going fishing for commons ,budgets rod / reel combos are out the window ,buy the best quality gear you can afford .....

i have a penn overseas 50lb class rod which i've decided i'll be using! its the reel thats the biggest prob thinking shimano tld 20?

Hi Mack dont over do the drag on any TLD and make sure you have the rod clamp fitted i ripped my reelseat clean off fishing in crinan last year luckerly with the help of a mate i landed the skate i was using a TLD 25 with 50lbs power pro braid if you have not caught one before your in for a right treat make sure you have a wide butt pad and a harness and enjoy i had three in the day and my arms where falling off tightlines Alain
