| Re: Gemini 2 Plaice Fishing 04/05/2005 Ive done the skerries a few times now and its great when you find them. Its not only Plaice either, Gurnards and Bass are also on the menu. Not sure about Rays though, but quite possible I would have thought. Not sure about using the carp rod either, I tend to use a light uptider with a slosh30 or 7000 just in case you hit something a bit special. |

| Re: Gemini 2 Plaice Fishing 04/05/2005 Carp rods are fine, I use a light 10-15lb rod with an abu 6500 and 22lb braid, The chances of hitting something like a big ray or bass is slim. Go as light as you dare, i do! |

| Re: Gemini 2 Plaice Fishing 04/05/2005 Hi folks, I have been talking to Dave again this morning. As a result of that conversation I have a couple of things I want to just clear up. First of all, Dave said to me that he hasn’t had anyone go through braid whilst on the drift, over the skerries using braid. Secondly, he has no objection to anyone using braid but bite detection will be better if using mono. He points out that bite detection when using braid will not be a problem whilst holding the rod, but says that the detection of bites when rods are stood against the side of the boat and watched will be more difficult. He suggests that those using braid also bring a reel loaded with mono so they can see the difference for themselves, but again, this will be down to rate of the tide. Dave also suggests we fish as light as we dare to. The tide on the day will be 4.1-4.2mts therefore the drift will be of a medium rate and no too harsh. Flattie/estuary rods, carp rods and up from there, will all be fine. Another thing he mentioned during our conversation was the style of lead to be used. They need to be the watch face style and ideally the weight of these should be 4 and 6oz. I hope this info helps and a further update on who is marked up for going is on its way. Cheers. | Re: Gemini 2 Plaice Fishing 04/05/2005 Here is the first list of those intending to come on the 4th May trip. Confirmed as going. Nigel (Pixybasher) Dave (Pinguprogress) Phill (Phill) Pete (Blackthorn) Mart (KiwiMarty) Dave (Devondave) Those who have expressed an interest. Stewart Mark (Pross) I could still do with a couple of names of anyone who is interested in going.
