| Re: cod fishing off weymouth if you are talking offshore then any of the rough ground marks to the east ( the usual whiting grounds ) plus marks like the shambles .. Best baits in the winter are 3 or 4 whole squid and coloured muppets on 6/0 or 8/0 hooks .. Ashore , chesil is the only place worth a look for a cod There are lots of areas off Poole aswell - the deep holes tend to hold the fish I doubt you'll see many , if any cod on the inshore wrecks so artificial lures wont be any cop . __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

| Re: cod fishing off weymouth Quote:
Abbotsbury bouy is another good area for some big channel whiting try cubes of mackerel as it seems to attract the bigger fish .. Had Cod boated over 30lb on a simple heavy mono 'wishbone' - 100lb bs with 8/0 o'shaughnessey hooks - 2 whole squid on each hook plus a flouro muppet .. obviously peeler and lug baits are worth a stab and you'll pick up other species too but its wether you want to go all out for a double figure fatty or just catch whats about . __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
