Hi Guys, I am lookoing for a bit of info on the Sea Hog Samurai. I have seen a virtually new boat for sale with engine that still needs running in. Its priced at £8,995 ONO. Is this a good boat and what should I look for in terms of damage, etc. Boat is fully equipped usual GPS, Fish Finder Anchor warp and chain. The Boast is local too me in Bristol so I wil be going to see her and have a good look over her etc. Any advice you can give me?? Many thanks in anticipation.

Re: Sea Hog Samurai - 16 feet Hi Smoothy, They look a nice boat and I think have a pretty good record. http://seahog.co.uk/Samurai.htm Should be in pretty good shape just look out for stress fractures around engine area, transom corners and any bulkheads etc. Shouldn't have any painted areas and overall has it been carefully used or abused? Big chips in keel/bow area from launching etc ? On price I should do a search around web for a similar boat. The boat you are looking at seems very good with all new kit and the Tohatsu engines are getting good reports. Why is the guy selling? " change of circumstances forces sale" is meaningless flannel - covers everything from putting it on a rock to having had argument with the wife or even 'I thieved it and the police are pretty close now' - only joking but you know what I mean Engine - a major part of the cost is still under warranty? Hope this info helps __________________ * <0((fluff))< " 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water "

Shaun, Two things Im was told when buying - service record for the outboard if they have them and if not why not ? And its perfectly reasonable to ask for a demo or quick trip on the boat if possible. Other than that everything that Fluff has said is true and what you need to check. Always interesting to now why they are selling ! Cheers mate Tommy __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up !

Re: Sea Hog Samurai - 16 feet Shaun, Whats been said is spot on but insist on a sea demo. You can look it over and see any ordinary signs of damage but you can't see how the motor works, and it's a very important bit of the boat. If he won't take you out in it there's a good reason and don't touch it!! Nice looking piece of kit, best of luck Smoothie...see you at the boat shows getting all those little, but essential, extras. Like a nice fiddle for the gin! Looks like you may be reading my thread about a private boat forum meet a little differently from now on...eh skipper? Be interested in your reports from the Bristol Channel as the tides are so huge.....good luck. Cheers jules __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Many thanks Tommy and Jules, I have e-mailes the guy to arramge a meet, we will see what transpires. Good idea to have a try out in the boat. I have asked him for this and hopefully he will respond positively, if not........ i'll take your advice and skip it. We have man size tides up here Jules, they are not too bad to cope with so long as you have enough anchor chain and warp to hold bottom out of the main channel. Never try and anchor up in the main channel with 7-8 knots of tide running past you on a 13 metre tide...If you try it..... We always move off over to the "banks" and reefs its much safer. Maybe a boat show Gin and Fiddle could be in order if I buy the boat
