Any tips on the best rigs /lures/bait as never had much luck when we went out there

hello mate welcome to the forum,nice to see another angler from dover,
i'm in whitfield,where are you ?
i have been out there a few times,mostly have drifted across and caught numerous species including cod,conger,turbot and bass

i used to like using whole squid on a pennel rig but large ragworm baits did well if i remember rightly,
