Sorry i couldnt get back with some marks Tommy but Mike seems to have disappeared - The best wrecking is out on the 00's ( long and lat lines )- over 30 miles and into the shipping lanes . Look for numbers for hurd deep - 600ft of water in a massive trench and fun when it takes 30 mins to reel a pollack in Might be a bit too far for you just yet but worth a thought mate - Hurd's Deep (or Hurd Deep) is a deep underwater valley in the English Channel, north west of the Channel Islands, at position 49 degrees 30 minutes North, 3 degrees 34 minutes West. From marine navigational charts, the maximum depth is 172 metres, and lies to the north of the isle of Alderney. It is most probable that it was named after Captain Thomas Hurd RN. by Admiral Martin White (born at Hayling Island, 1779). Following the First World War Hurd's Deep was used by the British Government as a dumping ground for both chemical and conventional munitions. Following the Second World War it was used to dump military equipment, munitions and weaponry left behind by the ousted German invaders of the Channel Islands. Routine dumping of British munitions carried on until 1974. Between 1946 and 1973 the area was also used for the dumping of low and intermediate level radioactive wastes.[1] [2] Hurd's Deep is the final resting place of HMS Affray which sank in 1951[3]. or try this - Rotorua – Max depth 60 metres A massive 11000-ton wreck torpedoed in WW1. Lying on her side she stands some 15 metres above the seabed at her bow. For some reason after being dived quite extensively in the mid eighties she was forgotten about, possibly because she lies in the middle of Lyme Bay and is quite a trek but with the fast modern boats of today distance is no longer a major issue Position: 50 18.47N; 02 59.73W. there are another two out there reasonably close to the Rotorua called HMS Formidable and the Mv Ice Prince -50°11'6"N 2°50'6"W ( a good 40 miles offshore ) http://wikimapia.org/#lat=50.307926&...77&z=9&l=0&m=b Steve - ( im gutted i cant get down to join you mate ) __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

| Re: Exmouth - mid channel I'd be highly tempted to take the day off work for a spot of fishing ![]() Forecast for Thursday is grey & cloudy which is good for sunburn, but not sure whether the 20-30mph southerly means the sea will be fairly mountainous? ![]() Seen this on met office shipping forecast WindSoutherly or southwesterly, 4 or 5 in east, 5 or 6 in west, but occasionally 7 in far west for a time. Sea StateSlight or moderate, becoming rough in west. WeatherRain later. VisibilityModerate or good, becoming moderate or poor later A force 5 to 6 would be a bit uncomfortable perhaps? __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back! |

| Re: Exmouth - mid channel I'm lucky I don't do seasick really. Looking out the office I can see the sea is looking pretty good now - very calm really. If you catch anything decent in quantity, and can't use it all, I'd be delighted to relieve you of a fish or two when you land back at the docks (I only work about 300 yards from the docks on Exmouth seafront ) __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back! |

| Re: Exmouth - mid channel Sounds like fun. The only time I remember getting vaguely queezy was sailing in a yacht around Lizard Point enroute to the Scillys, when the tide was ripping through creating one hell of a swell! Generally though as long as I have a horizon visible I can control the chundering. __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back! |
