Re: ailsa craig 4hp These engines were very often used as auxilliaries for sailing boats. It may be there is a locking pin on the shaft to prevent it pivoting thus allowing for rudder steering __________________ I am in shape. ROUND is a shape!

Re: ailsa craig 4hp Cheers greenheart, there is something that resembles a pin, it is a sprung screw affair, winds in and out, after alot of encouragement with wd40, i,ve actually removed the pin and hasnt made any difference, its either like you say or totally ceased in this position due to never being needed to turn. ![]() ![]() Well it was free!

Re: ailsa craig 4hp Hi Greenheart, I have had a couple of emails from a chap on a boat forum that is trying to help me at mo, there is a apparently a knob which is sprung loaded and it should release the lock, thus allowing to swing her port and starboard, its seems something is wrong there, havent had the chance to play again recently, thanks for the offer and i will bear you in mind. I await another reply and should be pretty much sorted. Many thanks to you.
