| Advice??? Hi all just joined the forum and am after some advice about getting into boat fishing, i've been a few times with a friend who used to have his own boat and i am now in a position financially where i can look for my own boat. So some of my questions are.........where is the best place to look for boats for sale, what sort of things should i be looking for, are there any restrictions on me buying a boat and getting out to see, what hidden costs will i encounter, if any.......in fact basically just tell me anything you think i need to know??? The type of thing i'm thinking about, is something around the £5000 mark, if that will even buy me a boat???? and if possible something that'll hold 4-6 people??? thanks in advance . Danny |

| Re: Advice??? Hi Danny, my first port of call would be the newsagents and buy Sea Angler mag which has a large boat section in it ( normally more about boats and bugger all to do with actually fishing ) , or a similar title like improve your boat fishing.. | Re: Advice??? Check out ebay for an idea of what's out there and what sort of money you can expect to pay, or if you have a make of boat in mind there is bound to be a forum for it (mines a Shetland) with boats advertised and plenty of good advice. Rich |

Hi just read your thread, I found my boat which I bought a few month ago by searching the web under boats for sail. But you must know what type of boat you need first. Reading the boat fishing mags is good but you could also contact your nearest boat fishing club for their advice. There may be a member with a boat that suits, for sail. However if your knowledge of boats is limited then when you go to look at a boat do take someone with you who does have the necessary knowledge to pick the good ones from the bad ones. The boat angling club may be able to help with that also. Do remember when you get your boat that it must be service and cared for, look after your boat and it will look after you. £5k should buy you a good secondhand package. I paid £4k form mine, boat engine trailer and loads of kit. Any way don't be in a hurry and I am sure that when you put your hand on the gunwales of the right boat for you, you will know it. Good look and let us know how you get on Cliff |
