| looked at a boat today (if this is in the wrong section sorry) drove miles. essex to calshot (hampshire) went to look at a fantastic boat.so we was told. gets there, and was in for a disappointment. it was in a boat yard. so could see it in the water. and after being told its been repaired for holes to the bottom (or patched up as we was told) it had a small duck into cabin. nowhere to sit. and it had an outboard. and that would of caused alot of hassle to remove it. now we are talking about mooring up a boat in an area thats not good with security.so we would come out to it just gone.a hole where the out board was. also no treatment on the hull. so weighing it up. would of cost alot to get her sea worthy. shame as i was getting excited. i know hubby was as well. so the fellas had a couple of hours teaching dome worm to swim. i sat in the car and read a book. and we then drove home in friday rush hour traffic all arount the M3 and then englands biggest car park THE M25. so still on the look out for a day boat of some sort. |

| Re: looked at a boat today there are some great small boats around at the moment. One of the best day angling boats ever designed was produced by a company called Island Plastics in Cornwall. Based on older clinker built designs it was made to potter around in the Mid channel in anything up to a force 6+ Look for listings along the lines of IP 22, IP 24 etc. The IP 24 has great seakeeping abilities and all the ones I know about have at least an 80HP diesel inboard engine that is just about perfect for the craft. They will take you out mid channel, look after you all day and then get you back all on less than 20 quid's worth of fuel in today's money __________________ I am in shape. ROUND is a shape! |

| Re: looked at a boat today Fullcreel & myself have just finished fitting my boat (Orkney Strikeliner) out ready for the summer. Fitted 6 rodholders & bought a spare 115AH leisure battery. All we need now is some decent weather.... ![]() __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: looked at a boat today Quote:
im a total novice when it comes to boats. went sailing when i was at school. really enjoyed it. and a teacher used to take us out on his boat most weekends.only pottering around southend (essex) but really want to learn more. or i might just use it to catch some rays (and i dont mean the fishy sort lol) but got a bit of time yet so going to be fun just mooching around the boat yards. drooling over the big boats. then settling our sites on something alot smaller. (ill keep doing the lotto u never know ) |
