Re: The teams Wellyfish, Yeah will let you know if Nimue actually gets put up for sale, but she and I go back a long way and it will be difficult to part with the b*tch. We had a trip out a couple of years ago and the weather got really bad and we had to come in much earlier than anticipated. As we approached the bar at the entrance to the river Teign a huge wave came over the back of the boat and I (and the other 3 guys) really thought we were going over, but even though I was thrown from the helm onto the deck she just kind of shugged it off span round into the wave and rode it like a good un. Difficult decision but really like some of the new french boats. Cheers, Jules. __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Re: boat Hi Audi , 18' with 9' deck sounds good but does it have a big enough cabin (lockable) to keep gear? I live a fair way from the coast and need to leave loads of stuff aboard. 7or8 rods and tackle boxes, anchors with chain and rope, spare engine, 2 or 3 6 gallon tanks, tools, lifejackets, cooker, waterproofs etc etc. Have you seen the new Fast Bass 22 from Explorer boats? Big review in the Jan edition of Total Sea Fishing, looks wonderful and at a great price. Trouble is I also like the Arvor, Beneteau and Antares ranges. Oh the choices! Cheers Jules. __________________ born to fish....forced to work

Re: boat Take a look at Quicksilver Pilothouse, I have the 620 so am biassed. They have an under deck locker which will take a dozen rigged uptiders as well as spare fuel tanks, anchors, I even have a 3 metre inflatable in mine. They have a built in 125ltr fuel tank, and take an outboard up to 185kg (90hp 4 stroke ish) The cabin has room for all electrics, mine has compass in binnacle, GPS Plotter, seperate GPS, VHF x 2, fishfinders x 2, Handheld VHF, Handheld GPS, EPIRB, radio, TV. There are 2 bunks and room for a portable toilet and cooker. The anchor locker will take a 5kg CQR along with 10 mtr 3/8 chain and 100mtr 12 mm rope. There is loads of fishing space on deck, enough for 4 if you are organised. The launch is simple with an outboard, bit more difficult with an outdrive and hard but not impossible with a shaft drive ie.Arvor. If you are buying a package have a good look at the included trailer, The one offered with mine had Alco axles which are to me a nightmare so I had mine custom made. That was the only thing that let the package down.

Jules / Chris, I agree with you both that the Arvor or Quicksilver are beautiful boats but if they are connected with the frogs then *ollox to them - we have a Warrior 165 which we absolutely love. Jules its exactly the same as the Explorer you are talking about but the slightly smaller one - Warrior do a bigger 195 which is the same. Youve seen our boat and there is plenty of space - if you do go for the Explorer then before have a look at the Warrior range mate cause they are identical ! We hope to one day upgrade to an Arvor if we can - good secondhand ones for about 20K so a bit of saving required. One final thing - I like the warrior / explorers etc. cause they are trailorable and can be taken anywhere. The one problem I have with an Arvor etc is that we cant then take it to Weston / Swansea / Exmouth for a days fishing at any time. There is a lot to be said for a having a boat that is trailorable. Just my thoughts. __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up !
