Saturday 23rd Dartmouth Hi all, Well, after completing all my chores I finally got to bed last night at 2100hrs for what I hoped would be a 7 hour sleep. As you can see from the time of my posting it is shortly after 0300. I am like a little schoolboy going out on his first charter trip, instead of a 67 year old great grandfather going out on his ????trip. I'm all packed up, soup in the flask, rolls all ready, rods made up, just waiting for Richard to pick me up at 0445 for our two hour journey to Kingswear, the first since October, the rest all blown off. No doubt the first of the reports and pictures will start later on this evening. By for now. Drew __________________ All that Glitters is not Gold Secretary of The Blandford Sea Angling Club

Re: Saturday 23rd Dartmouth Hi all, Apologies for lateness, I returned last night completely knackered. It was a difficult day in terrible conditions, The weather was worse than we anticipated, 4 - 5's with wind against tide, quite a few sat it out for most of the day and the fish didn't want to play. We stayed on the same wreck all day ?????, a container ship complete with containers and whatever, to a good forty turns up, and we were sure that it was netted. Lots of tackle was lost, I was one of the lucky ones loosing only one lot but lost at least 4 tails on my orange Storm Shads. Anyd G and I had 5 Pollock each to 9lb 13ozs. all mine were just under the 10lb mark I am sure that Andy's were about the same. Darrel and Tim had 5 between them. I think we had a total of 25 Pollock for the day, all of them a reasonable size, I came second in the clubs competition loosing out to a pouting, however the winner was a fellow Scot. As I can't post pictures I have put a link in to the Gemini Site. http://www.geminifishing.co.uk/pollack.htm Regards Drew __________________ All that Glitters is not Gold Secretary of The Blandford Sea Angling Club Last edited by Drew; 01-25-2010 at 06:07 AM.

Re: Saturday 23rd Dartmouth Evening drew I've fished the same container ship a couple of times. I would not have thought it was netted due to the shape. It is one of those wrecks tho where you have to be tight to the wreck to catch. tj

Re: Saturday 23rd Dartmouth Sounds like the usual charter trip for me - rough weather and a need to sit it out with my head over the side !! Well done for landing a few anyway Drew - cant sniff at 5 pollack each all round the double - not what you were hoping but Id be over the moon with that !!! A day on the boat, a few fish and good banter no dount - fair play ! __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up !

| Re: Saturday 23rd Dartmouth Hi all, TJ the reason we thought it was netted:- on numerous occasions on 26 - 40 turns we all thought there was a "fish on", the usual tug followed with the bending rod only to find we were snagged. Not the usual snag we all recognise. Two of the lads lost an estimated 200 ft of braid each, I was lucky in as much that I lost only 1 complete trace, i.e. Portland Rig, lead, Lure trace and Lure. Having said all that I will gladly do it again next month on the same boat. I thoroughly enjoyed myself despite the conditions. The lads on board were a delight to fish with, banter was great, and I am sure that everyone enjoyed themselves. I have only just discovered that Darrel beheaded and gutted my fish. Thank you Darrel. The Roe was first class, I had it for dinner last night and breakfast this morning. If Darrel reads this perhaps he will give you his opinion.
