| Re: Boat Fishing Jellies are great for Pollack and cod. The trick is to find a skipper that will not shoot from wreck to wreck all bleddy day instead of steadily fish one properly. |

| Re: Boat Fishing Quote:
Black 6" firetail worms are my number one Pollack choice tied to 4' of clear 20lb mainline then swivel then another 4' of 25lb mainline.. Attach this to a french boom and twist a bag tie ( like you get with the sandwich bags) to the bottom and use this to attach a 10oz superzoom. Cod prefer bright orange and red worms or shads fished as per the methods above. For the Pollack alter the retrieve rate and come up as many as 50 turns before dropping to the bottom and repeating. Cod tend to sit just behind or infront of the wreck so you have to drop and hold the lead on the bottom which can be pretty hair raising ! Spring Pollack will undoubtedly prefer a live sandeel but jellies and shads are brill for wrecking .. Dont even bother trying them as an alternative to bait when at anchor ! One note..using brown coloured eels will attract the mighty pout before a decent fish gets a chance ! hope this helps, Steve Pics to follow now i know how lol __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

| Re: Boat Fishing Lovely cod steve, cracker of a fish. A lot of boat anglers including myself sometimes forget a good skipper is the key to catching fish from a boat, we like you steve have a first class skipper and roll on may/june, cant wait. You are so lucky to have fish of that size steve to fish for simply we dont, but what we lack in size we make up for in some great sport on light tackle, trawlers cleaned the big fish out years ago and still do. Anyway good luck for this season. Tight lines. Paul |

| Re: Boat Fishing If the water is clear they are deadly. Last year though anglers who fished bait (especially squid) out fished any type of lure. But the water never really cleared for them to be effective. Alan __________________ Man who fishes in other man’s well often catches crabs. www.wildcard-charters.com |

| Re: Boat Fishing Hi Paul. Californian Calamari works ok but because it is for human consumption it is bleached which kills a lot of it's smell and most of the ink is removed. One of the reasons squid release ink is because it stops fish dead in their tracks - they love to eat it ![]() I have been using unwashed squid this season, which is rinsed in salt water before being frozen. Lolligo squid is mainly Argentinian and is bigger than Calimari and a much darker brown colour. Biggest of all is Ilex squid from the Falkland Islands which can be 12in long. Ilex is cheaper and both have plenty of ink left on them. I use squid on pennel rigs from a 10in tubi boom and alter the trace length to suit the size of the tide, i.e. shortish lengths for bigger tides and up to 7ft on smaller ones. | Re: Boat Fishing Hi all, Tomorrow we will give you the 2010 answer. Darrelc, Tim, Andy G, Mule, an I will be fishing with the Blandford SAC, weather permitting, on board Dave Harrisons Gemini out of Dartmouth in search of the BIIIG Pollock. Some of the lads will be using squid and some various lures. We also are trialing a new lure which was created by a well known rig manufacturer. All will be revealed on Sunday.
