| Are there quotas for a sailing boat? Hi guys Just wondering if you can settle an arguement with a mate of mine! Can a boat with no engine at all, just sails, fish and sell as much as he likes without a commercial fishing license? Obviously the owner would have to registered as a seller. My mate is certain you don't need a license, need help as i have a tenner riding on it! |

| Re: Are there quotas for a sailing boat? I think you got your answer elsewhere. No licence is needed for un-powered boats less than 10m long. There is an array of Byelaws according to local Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities/SFCs. These include MLSs (size limits for landing) and regulations relating to mesh sizes, headlines on static nets, seasons and Nursery Areas for bass. Best to check with your local IFCA/SFC (Southern Sea Fisheries District Committee controls all fishing within 6 miles of coastlines between Chichester Harbour and West Dorset (01202 721373). I believe recreational shore anglers have a bag limit of 25Kg which can also be lawfully sold! ![]() |
