| Reels Hi. Ages ago, back in August, I was looking for a new boat reel. Eventually I decided on the Shimano charter special (tr1000). Great reel, even looks good. ![]() You'd have to see it out of the box to really apreciate it. With a gear ratio of 4.2:1 you get a fairly fast but powerful retreive, perfect for yanking a double figure cod out of a wreck (although I haven't mannaged more than three or four pounds yet...). It says the line capacity for the TR1000LD is 240yds of 14lb mono, however I nhave filled mine up with goodness knows how much 20lb braid, the only acception being a little bit of mono to protect the spool and give better grip. It has a lightweight Graphite frame and sideplates, aluminum spool, lever drag, counter balanced handle, and clicker. It has centrifugal brakes aswell among a crowd of other stuff like programmable drag. No idea how many bearings it has but it is certainly very smooth. I'd reconmend to anyone. |

| Re: Reels I agree they are brilliant all round boat reels at a sensible price. The only downside is that they are a nightmare if not impossible to strip down and service as a DIY job due to the complicated internal components !! __________________ Brighton Charter Boat |
