welcome to the forum john dont know about boat fishing down there but try the crabpots in your local harbour best to ask first harbour master or local tackle shop dont leave them for to long with out checking them reguarly

I don't want to appear a kill joy but be very carefull about setting crab pots without a licence. There is a minimum size for crabs and lobsters. Southern Sea Fisherys are quite active around the area. Check out their web site.

Also if you start laying pots do not be suprised if the local profesional potters remove your pots!

If you are putting down just a single pot and deploy it as you go fishing and recover it on the way back, again make sure the marker buoy has your name/boat name on it.

Plenty of good fishing spots in and around the Weymouth area.
