Seems a few of us fish south devon by boat!
I went out last tuesday, caught 3 sandeels on a 6 inch spinner! Not a single fish showed on sounder so cancelled thursday trip. Water temp still only 48 degrees.
Sandeel or peeler?? Most of you come down on the sandeel side. Well just to throw a tiny spanner in the works, last year I caught over 60 bass off Teignmouth and used neither! What was the killer bait? Metal. A 12 foot carp rod, fixed spool reel, 12lb braid and plain silver bar spoon. No other colour seemed to work. Couldn't get a bite on the famous rapala j13 either.
Best area was drifting over pole sand but I caught bass up to 5 and a half pounds in the estuary when it was too windy to go out. Just drifting from the bridge down to the end of the moored boats opposite the boatyard.
Tight lines guys see you down there soon! My boat is the blue hulled shetland, cream deck, called Nimue. Callsign vsvr2.

Hi guys'
I went out a couple of weeks ago and my total catch for 5 hours fishing consisted of 3 foul hooked sandeels!
The good news is that if the sandeels are about the bass are sure to follow. The water temp was only 48 degrees so hopefully its warming up a bit. I'll definately be going out in the next week or sowill keep you informed.
Tight lines.
Jules, ( Nimue)

the main thing being caught around here is BASS!!!!!! they're mainly cathching them on lures, but peeler is the other bait they're catching on!
