| first win fished cardiff bay yacht club comp yesterday, think it was called the cogniac cup. got the 8am lock out and steamed down to sully bay to fish a mark which normally gives us some decent rays. nice flat calm sea with high water approx 12.30. baits used wer squid mackeral sandeel and a bit of black lug. first drop 15lb blonde, not bad start with one to weigh. slowed down from then with the odd doggie and some smaller rays. not a lot of run at this stage and we were contemplating moving to another mark, but listening in on the radio there didnt seem to be much happening with the othe boats so decided to stay put.definately best decision of the day. next fish caught was a thornback about 10lb and then a small eyed ray which tipped the scales at 10lb.14oz and turned out to be the eventual winner £150 quid + 1/2 pool money yippee so not a bad days fishing, weather got up a bit in afternoon so got 4.15 lock in. cheers ![]() ![]() peter __________________ if at first you dont succeed buy a boat. peter |
