Blonde Ambition

I had been planning a trip to the overfalls for a while now and with no wind and small tides saturday i decided to get out there - ave it ;D

Me and clare met up with Nick, Jack, Andy and dave in the harbour just after 6. After nick had fueled up we all headed out.


stopped near no mans land on route for some mackeral. Clare managed one before we got fed up and moved on.
So out to the overfalls we went while the other guys headed out back. Didnt take too long to get there at 24 knts and we werent surprised to see quite a few boats out there already.

Set the anchor down and fished the last of the ebb without a bite. so moved to another bank as the tide changed and set the pick. Didnt take too long and i was into the first ray of the day


got her up to the surface the first time and she dived back down to the bottom again! ;D after a spirited fight she was lifted in


Just a tad over 18lb ;D
we were getting lots of bites now and i was soon into the next fish

Things slowed down a bit after that and I could see clare was getting frustrated I hoped she would catch something soon before i got a beating lol we were still getting lots of annoying bream ratlles, bloody things wouldnt leave the baits alone ::)

After a while I got a cracking bite and struck into a liveley smutt


As the tide slacked off i managed another reasonable blonde

15.5lb ;D

Had another good bite over slack and pulled up a surprise Brill

A new species for me so i was well chuffed ;D

The the flow picked up again and clare struck into a reasonable fish,
after a good fight she got her first ever blonde ray

12LB she was well happy with that

I struck into a bass soon after


4LB one for the table.
After that things went quiet so we headed over to culver before dark. tried a couple of marks there through the nite but only managed a few dogs and pout :-/

The sun soon rose again and we made a move to a mark in the solent.
fishing was slow to start with but it soon picked up with clare catching a few smouthounds and spotted rays on her spinning rod



went back in after lunch.
What a nice weekend on the water!

Looks a nice male spotted ray as opposed to a baby blonde. My eyesight is not what itused to be due inpart to my illness so somone may correct me. Some nice fish there

Must admit, I thought spotted as well when I saw the photo, but then my fish ID skills are utterly rubbish, so.... Anyone??? I'd be interested to know.

Either way there's some cracking fish there guys! And a monster session... How long were you on the water???

We were on the water at 6AM saturday and back on teh trailer for about 3PM sunday.
