| bass scarcity got a boat late this season, open day boat, not doing particulary well after my favourite species, yes Bass! tryed plugging, tryed live prawns that i thought would be lethal..........we've had one takable bass. this is shoreham area west sussex. anybody got any thoughts? been out of the scene for quite some time, Brother told me Brighton is fishing fine. |

| Re: bass scarcity This may not be true for your area but mid september/october Bass tend to shoal together having just fed like mad to move off possibly to spawn. The moving off tends to leave all the biggest bass behind hence the biggest are usullaly caught during November. |

| Re: bass scarcity thanks for the replies, possibility this is true, thats a great shame as i usually return anything over five pounds as i believe that the bigger fish are responsible for replenishing stocks for future years unlike their youngsters, this is some research i,ve read and believe to be true. i like to plug using a fly rod or live prawn, which is obviously entertaining, last saturday however shoals and shoals of mackeral were in my area so i put on something small and had good fun with them out in the boat! |
