I'm currently looking for a boat mainly for sea use, although i'd like to be able to use in on larger rivers like the severn & Warwickshire avon for Pike and Zander too. I'm looking for something 15-17 feet long with a 30-60 hp motor + auxilary motor in case of breakdowns. I like the Look of the Wilson Flyer with its dory style planing hull & the Orkney Fastliner with it's displacement hull. I've been talking to Portland Pirate who has owned both types & he favours the Wilson as it is a more stable fishing platform. However a lot of the adverts for wilson flyers that i've been looking at look like boats that have been bought in kit form & completed by DIYers. So build quality and finish may be suspect. I do like the quality of build on the Orkney Boats. I aso like the look of the Sea Swift boats. Has anyone else got any thoughts on the subject?Link to Orkney style boat pics.... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...num=2&ct=image Link to Wilson Flyer boat pics... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...%3Den%26sa%3DG __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: Which boat? I've decided I like the Orkney Strikeliner 16+. Nice build quality & good resale value. Anyone know of a nice one for sale? Ideally I'm looking for one thats complete with Fishfinder, Vhs & chartplotter etc. Also an auxilary motor would be nice. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: Which boat? There's loads out there but why not wait till early next year, just after new year, middle of winter bills coming in and boat been sat in drive for months, you turn up and make an offer, you should get a bargain. __________________ Poor prep= Pathetic Performance |

| Re: Which boat? Ian - Orkneys are great boats but some years ago when were replacing our Orkney 16 longliner we were advised to try the Warrior boats - and I have to say they are brilliant - def worth a look before you make a purchase. If you contact Warrior they usually let you know of someone locally who has one and arrange for them to show you the boat - theres a fair few of them off Shelley on the drying moorings !!! Once youve decided John is right - wait til after christmas, money tight, not out at sea and look on the webssites and you should get a bargain !! Boats and Outsboards have always served us well ! __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up ! |
