| Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise Hi Johnfish A lot will depend on your budget on what you can get. I would suggest you join a club and crew for as many people as you can to find out how a bigger boat feels as it may not be right for you. You also need to consider if you intend to tow or have a mooring, if the later can you get a mooring that you can afford? Will it be afloat at all tide states? You could have a look at my web site www.fishing-boats.info which may give you some ideas. All the best Dave ![]() __________________ A bad days fishing is better than a good day a work! | Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise Hi my budget is around 10/15k I will moore it for the season then put in the boat yard during winter but still use every now and then I would like to use for the od trip to france so it would need to have good sea capabilities, Stable strong able to cope with sea state 5 / 7 i think around 23ft but a little bigger if more stable, able to fish 4/5 anglers but mainly 2/3 i have outboard 80 yam maybe i could use this i dont no but could sell it if need be i would like to achieve 30 knots but not sure if inboard deasel is capable of that or weather inboard is the way to go ? thanks and hope to here your advice shortly all the best John |

| Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise you could look at a colvic seaworker with the right engine you could get 20+ knots its a great craft very stable great for inshore and offshore copes with a head sea very well this is a semi dispacement boat and you could fish 4-5 people with no problem.not the best boat for taking in and out of the water but it is a fine fishing platform |

| useful Site Sean. I'm thinking about getting a boat. Something about 15'-17' with a 40 - 60hp motor. Quite like the looks of the Orkney fastliners or Longliners. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise Hi John I think what you are looking for sounds great but I don't think I would like to be on a 23ft boat in a F7. Outboards are ok but for a larger craft the engine size required start to grow as does the fuel usage. ![]() I think you 80hp Yam may be a bit small for 23ft craft for a 30kt cruise ability, I would have thought 130 - 200hp would be better. To travel over the channel I would suggest something with a Cat B clasification, most smaller craft are Cat C. All this means that they are capable of taking a bigger sea, it does not mean they are safer just built with this sea state in its design. You can get diesels to go 30kts+ but in reality how many times will you be able to do this speed and would your back and teeth stand the slamming? Good luck with your search and don't forget to go over to France you will need to have a copy of the official "Bill of Sale" with you as well as a lot of other paperwork just to satify the French authorities! ![]() Dave __________________ A bad days fishing is better than a good day a work! | Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise I think inboard is the way to go, i hope i dont have to deal with a force 7, but easy to get caught ought. just a good sea going boat i think. doesn't need to do 30 knots, But it would be nice to achieve close to it and not a cathedral hull to much slamming i have a microplus 17ft now and although fast she does slam i love the seaward 25 but very expensive i think a v hull is required to cut through the waves any ideas of the type of boat that would fit the bill would be much appreciated around 10/15k thanks Plenty fish at the nab yesterday 15 dog 2 bass 1 tope 4 mackrel good good day |

| Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise take a look at the raider 18, search on line, right engine should get you out to a 14mile wreck in half an hour! (on the plane) 30-35 knots good stable boat. ![]() |

| Re: Best sea fishing boat offshore Please Advise Bushie was spot on when he mentioned the Colvic Seaworker. This boat is available from 20ft to 25ft and was designed to fish 4 in comfort and also take on the odd heavy sea. There are many different engine configurations around, I've even seen one recently with a brand new BMW marine diesel engine with an outdrive that would produce 25+ knotts in the right conditions. Beware though, some of these craft were home built from plans, so watch for the standard of finish. I've spent many a happy day out on this type of boat. I wouldn't mind having one myself |
