| Kayak Fishing The missus has been on about getting a few sit on kayaks for when we are down in Devon which sounds good to me as it will let me get to so very bassy looking marks that can be reached on foot. Does anyone have any tips on fishing from a kayak? Is the technique to just paddle out and then drift while spinning or are there other / better ways to fish? Also, saw two kayaks for sale in Salcombe - both were sit on types one was £299 and the other £450 but was marked as a fishing kayak. Other than it having a back rest and some netting there didn't seem to be much difference. Is there likely to be any difference between them and if so would it be worth paying an extra £150? |

| Re: Kayak Fishing Where do you start ! SOT (sit on top) Kayaks are the way to go ... you should be looking for a 13 foot + Yak for the sea but the smaller ones do work ... lots of ways to fish - at anchor, drifting, paddling in and out of features - plugging. spinning or ledgering - so many options ... I use an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 - good all round Yak - these are made in 'normal and fishing types - fishing types will generally have rod holders, bungee netting. hatches, anchor trolleys etc fitted - thats what the extra is for ... Take a look at this site : http://www.anglersafloat.co.uk/index.html A dedicated Kayak fishing site (sure the mods wont mind me mentioning this one ) tons of info on there to give you a start - watch out though - equipment will cost you more than the Yak and it is very addictive Good luck ... ![]() Rob __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! | Re: Kayak Fishing Thanks Rob. I'm still hoping to get a sit on top but the missus is now going on about having noweher to store it and getting inflatable kayaks instead. Apparently we can't store them under the caravan as they'll get dirty!!! Women lol. |
