| Hi Guys. Apologies for not answering some of your questions on methods for catching the Channel Whiting from Poole. Been busy with good weather and ten trips in thirteen days ! On Tuesday 9th Dave Gosling and his mates from Swindon had over 100+ good Whiting using my favourite method..............? Baited feathers........or to be more precise baited hokkais. Pink or green coloured bodies on 3/0 to 6/0 size hooks with 50lb mono clear line available already made from Fladen via your local Tackle Shop. Baited with mackerel, squid, worms or combinations of all three. Why hokkais..........? Simple really......Channel Whiting feed mainly by sight and are predatory and competitive. So after a settled spell of weather and clear water the hokkais do the business ! Also by using a multiple hook rig when the shoals pass through you get double or treble hits ! Best fish probably 3lb but lots in the pound and a half size to 2lb size. Best tide........? midway between a Spring and a Neap. Nice eating too...........! All the best, Malcolm at __________________ Malcolm. www.TrueBlue-Poole.com Last edited by Fishing Forum Admin; 11-11-2004 at 04:19 PM. Reason: advert link removed |
