New to boat fishing help ?

I have just aquired a small fishing boat, I live in the North West, I have been told that "Trefer" North Wales is a good location all year round spot easy to launch. Does anybody recommend anywhere else and what methods ?????

Re: New to boat fishing help ?

Hi, welcome to the forum and welcome to the club of small boat owners. I live in the south west so can't help I'm afraid but someone will be along with some good advice.
What boat and motor have you got? I hear the cod fishing is better up there than down here but I think we beat you on the bass fishing front!
If you've just bought a second hand package privately please check the dates on the safety equipment, Flares especially are very dangerous when out of date, and you really do want that life jacket to inflate when you pull the cord!
Kindest regards and stay safe, Jules.

Where in the Northwest do you live? have you considered joining a boat fishing club, you'll get plenty of good advise and help. Take a look here http://www.wyreboatangling.com/forum/index.php

Re: New to boat fishing help ?

I know you're gonna be annoyed at this but it has to be said. 3 major rules in small boat fishing.
1,If you look out the window and think, umm not sure whether to go out....don't.
2, Always have a backup way of getting back in. Depending on how far out you go, this can be a pair of oars.
3, Start up and try out your back up power source if it's an engine.

I've not done all these and I will never do so again
Cheers, Jules
