Re: Boat fishing from exmouth sat 25th apr I'll be going out on this boat in a fortnights time, I've only been on a boat a few times and that was on this boat also fishing for pollack, had a cracking time. since I don't know anything about boat fishing can someone give some pointers as how to fish for the target species. Cod on the drift over wrecks, have'nt a clue to rigs or lures, there seems to be so many.lol

Re: Boat fishing from exmouth sat 25th apr Last time (a while ago) I successfully caught some decent pollack using a very large eddystone eel (black one about 10" from nose to tail) on a 4 foot running trace with a weight on a swivel on the end of the line. Mackerel for bait (can add to the eel lure for added attraction) can be caught using traditional feather / tinsel lure methods and usually are plentiful in deeper waters over wrecks. If the skipper has live sandeel, that's also a good bait to use in place of the eddystone eel. (more realistic I guess) __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Re: Boat fishing from exmouth sat 25th apr Hi, went out with Shande the last bank holiday it was hard work only a couple of pollock and a few cod caught. We are in between the pollock leaving and the cod arriving, my friend had the same sort of day on Gemini 2 out of dartmouth. The hottest thing at the moment is the sidewinder sandeels on a 10 feet trace with swivel in the middle to avoid tangles i've used these for a while now and have good results with them even for bass. I do have a couple of places available next Sat 23rd may from Exmouth if anyone's interested. Hopefully more cod will be showing. Regards ![]()
