To get your radio ticket you have to do a one day course costs about £80, where in Middlesex you'll get it I can't help.

Now the down side......
Life jackets
Flares
GPS no good calling the coastgard if you don't know where you are.
Aux engine, for when the main one breaks down.
Compass
Chart of the area your fishing, until you know it very well.

Don't go out to far just because its a nice flat sunny day it can change in
minutes.

Not trying to put you off or insult you,
just make sure you're safe.

John

Re: boat fishing in muddyford

Hi Jonny

You need to be aware of the channel at Mudeford as it does shift around and in the winter they lift the marker buoys.

I too would suggest joining a local club as the membership would normally be only to happy to help new joiners.

I am a member of the Poole Bay Small Boat Angling Club their web site is http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/ I am sure you would find it most useful.

Regarding plotters have a look on my web site, link in my signature and see what others think about their kit.

Hope the above helps

Coddy
