Re: anchors

Yeah maybe but we don't tend to anchor on them. I think we're both coming from the same place. Safety is the most important thing . I just have an anglers point of view, and you have an international yotties point of view. We really don't need the stuff you need. I'm sure you wouldn't leave port without an epirb but for a local fisherman we just shout. Works great. Don't want to start it all up again but for us little boats that don't go very far out, 3 times depth of water works fine. we dont do bad wea

Re: anchors

Hi Jules,

Yeah we're probably out of the same kind of mould ! Joined because I want to learn about fishing around coast, especially boat fishing out of Burry Port, South Wales. Catching tuna, bonito, marlin and sailfish etc etc doesn't give me much knowledge on flounder fishing but it's meant to be brilliant in the Lougher estuary . Thanks for the invite, can't come - but sure we must meet up and I'd like to meet you and all your mates etc.

Is there still biggish congers in 'the hole' inside the bar under the Ness ?

Look forward to meeting.

Cheers. a fluff chucker (off fly fishing today - fantastic weather)

Re: anchors

Incidently, and off topic sorry, as we have a yachtsman on the forum now. Does anyone know why, if you own a sailing vessel, it is essential to walk around Salcombe with a life jacket on? Surely this is taking safety too far? Someone more cynical than me may think it is a sort of 'badge' to let the ruffians know that they are boat owners but I'm sure that there is a sound and practical reason for it.

sanctuary is on a distinguished road
Re: anchors

Were do you suggest they put it, carry it round in there hand all day, don't forget that they are living on board and need to get to and from the boat which for safety reasons requires then to wear a life jacket, even in a marina. A bit obvious when you think about it.

Re: anchors

If you leave them in the dinghy/tender - which is how you got ashore - good quality lifejackets seem to grow legs and walk away, never to be found again!

Still off topic : why do yotties buy fashionable WHITE foul weather gear. I think it must be so the can't be seen if they fall over in bad weather when the sea is also spume/froth white etc. Real sailors don't buy white!

I want suggestions about a small boat to buy, I'd better post that as a new topic.

Cheers. a fluff chucker - went fluff chucking today , but no trout
