Tommy

Fed up already not been fishing for 3 weeks. Got pb flounder last time though, not bad, good fish.
The angling press are saying cod are now in so maybe time for a trip?
My crew are up for a trip out to the Boma which does hold cod, don't know about the Galacia, maybe too close inshore. Maybe been doing this too long but now will only go out to wrecks accompanied by another boat.
Would love a trip to the bristol channel this winter but not taking my boat so would love a day out in yours. Maybe we could even talk to each other! Gotta do it. Gonna consult tide table and get back to you on codding this winter from south coast, do you have good or bad days to have fishing?
Look forward to reply, Gotta fish.
Jules

Re: Tommy

Jules,

Yeah a trip to the Boma would be great if we can arrange the clear weather and lack of wind. I also have five other marks on my GPS for wrecks about 5 / 6 miles out - have you heard of other wrecks around our area - wandered if they are worth trying as the boma is very well known ?

Looking at a few pre christmas trips to Penarth and out of Portishead / Weston on our boat so will let you know ASAP.

Ill wait to hear from you on possible Boma dates.

Cheers Jules

Tommy

Re: Tommy

Tommy,
There are 2 wrecks within a mile of each other called the Bretagne and Perrone, about 6 miles from Teignmouth. I have the numbers programmed in but haven't visited them yet so a short trip out to pinpoint them is required. They are 1500 tons and 3500 tons both over 250 feet long and rising 35 feet from about 30 metres. The trouble is whenever I plan to go find them I end up fishing instead!
I guess as long as we keep planning trips, some are bound to come together!
Keep in touch, if you want the numbers of above wrecks let me know and I'll PM them.
Regards, Jules.

Re: Tommy

Thanks Jules I already have them and about 5 others from the diving clubs around xmouth. I guess as most people bother going to the Boma and its well known maybe we should also try a couple of the others - no reason why they shouldnt be productive.

If we can arrange a fish in November / December it would def be better at the weekend for me and on a Sunday if possible. Keep your ear to the ground and let me know when the cod start showing around our area.

Until then enjoy your fishing and Ill contact you again about coming up here and Ill wait for you to respond to this.

Cheers mate

Re: Tommy

Hi Tommy,
I think you're right about the Boma being so well known. There were about 6 boats fishing it last time I went out and a couple of them were steaming straight back over it at high revs to restart their drifts, great way to put fish at ease, funnily they went off the feed. Stupid sods.
I'll have a look in the good book and book a couple of sundays off in Nov/Dec. Odd how you can get some lovely calm sunny days in the middle of winter. Live sandeel time is over but there are plenty more baits to choose from.
I'll post up some possible dates we can work towards.
Jules.
PS I know of a reasonable second hand 5hp yamaha if you know anyone interested. Guy I work with just sold his boat (idiot) and is left with it. Might even have it myself as yet another backup!
