There are an enormous number of good spots. Where is your boat launched or docked? It is quite a large area of water for a small boat.

Terry.

Re: fishing spots

around east and west leap you will find a few nice drop offs and a hole or two off west leap.
the over on the island side the is saltmead ledges and hamsted ledges, just go careful with the anchor, the bottom can be very shitty.
if you venture past the needles the charter boats possion will give you a exelent idea of famous the cod grounds. basical a 1-5 mile radus from south west to east south east of the light house

good luck

Three spots come immediately to mind. There is a deep spot 14 to 15 metres straight out from the mouth of the Beaulieu (directly south). This yields good thornback rays, smooth-hounds and some Bass at the moment.

If you turn right out of the river mouth you can motor down to another deep hole off Sowley. This is about 200 Yards out. You can clearly see both holes on a chart. Sowley produces smoothies, bass and Black bream (in the Summer).

If you toddle off to the other side of the water you get still get quite large Bass from Saltmarsh and Gurnard. I had a nice one last Friday in Saltmarsh bay. I was fishing the 10 Metre line on the drop-off.

Good luck. . .
