| Re: Thornback ray my methods for ray are pulley rigs with 3/0 0r 4/0 hooks and good old mackeral for bait ...i use the tail end of the mackeral ie i slice into the mackeral about a third of the way up the fish and slice it right to the tail end then just hook it right at the end, once !! (skin side first) so the mackeral is hanging down ,this will stop the bait moving and twisting up the line !!! good luck ![]() __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy.. |

| Re: Thornback ray On the boat - two sides of mackeral rigged as a flapper or a whole squid on a pennel rig Keep your traces shortish ( 3 foot ) as you want the bait nailed to the bottom plus change your bait often as the better the sent trail the better the chance of hooking one. If your downtiding then work your bait away from the boat Good luck ![]() __________________ Richard Fishing Tackle | Sea Fishing |Carp Fishing| Spud Gun | Zander fishing | Fishing Reports | Hunting Reports Last edited by Fishing Forum Admin; 03-15-2008 at 08:25 AM. |
