wasnt to happy with the set up but we are on the case with cambrian boats, and it looks like they are going to change the chain and throw in some 6mm rope. are you doing any fishing at the moment, havent seen you out for a while, hope everything is well with you. plugger ![]() ![]() peter __________________ if at first you dont succeed buy a boat. peter |

| Re: new boat has arrived Looks fantastic. Keep us posted as to its performance would you. I'd like to know what the fuel consumption is like? cruise speed, range etc. You can read the write-ups but they are nvere as good as a real owner's experience. Is it petrol or diesel? inboard, sterndrive or outboard? This is the sort o fboat I wanted to buy but the missus wanted a waterborne caravan. I had to make do with a Bayliner 2452. It is great for fishing. Solid and heavy but it uses so much fuel (2.5 Gallons per mile). Enjoy. terry. PS as far as the chain is concerned you only need enough to keep the anchor rode flat as it runs up to the anchor. This helps the anchor do its job and stops it getting pulled vertically which will dislodge it. The theory is that you have 3 to 5 times your maximum depth of water as anchor rode. I run about 200 feet of rope plus 15 feet of chain. I use a 7.5 Kg Bruce anchor because the bottom is all mud around here. This is way over the top for a 24 footer in the Solent area but you may need something like this if you get into strong currents. I have trouble carrying so much rope. I use a huge plastic bucket from B&Q to hold the spare with the majority of the rope up front in the anchor locker. The bucket of spare sits underneath the driver's seat where it is out of the way. Your windlass set up will obviously dictate where you stow the rode. __________________ Terry Solent |

| Re: new boat has arrived hi terry the boat is powered by a perkins mercruiser 2ltr turbo inboard engine. we havent been able to get out yet to find out what the consumption isbut it has got to be better than last boat which was a shetland 610 which esed a gallon to start it. thanks for imfo on the anchor system, we used to use the alderney ring system on previous boat but the new one is fitted with electri windlass. took up problem with cambrian boats and it looks like they are going to sort it. nice to speak to you. plugger ![]() ![]() peter __________________ if at first you dont succeed buy a boat. peter |

| She looks a beautiful Boat Plugger. Took the Wife & Daughter down to Cardiff, Barry & Penarth last weekend. Had a look around the Marina. There's some nice boats there. |
