| Kayaks. I've just been (last weekend ) to the caravan and outdoor show at the NEC. Saw a purpose made Kayak there for fishing. Looked the danglies to be fair. Starting price for the boat and kit was about £1200 or £1500 , can't quite remember. I am in no position right now to even consider buying one so wil not be rushing in to anything. I know there are one or two saltwater kayakers on the forum. Anyone got any tips for a 1. inexperienced 2. unfit 3. very inland (hence the appeal) kayaker? (I know 1. Get lessons 2. Get fit and 3. find someone who is experienced to buddy up with. You know things like other kit (safety etc.) where to and where not to even consider this. Saw someone off Harlech area last spring and it got my interest. Cheers, "told you I'd make the earth move for you honey" Pete. ![]() __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: Kayaks. WAS.......... in a moment of madness i sold it.... well not really a moment of madness but getting the money together for a noisey, fast, polluting, pain in the *rse, money drain....boat. plenty of good ones around second hand. i sold a prowler 13 angler with extra rod holders , fish finder, anchor trolley, c-tug, dry trousers, and a load of extras for.......£550!! any questions just let us know. they are great fun but not the holy grail of fishing some will lead you to believe. john __________________ Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf. | Re: Kayaks. Now that's the kind of information source I am after. I'll probably trickle a few questions your way then. As I say I am in no rush , what with my finances being somewhat frazzled. So as a starter. I'm assuming that they are NOT suited to such areas as the good old severn (I assume tide is just too strong), what areas would you say they are best suited to ? __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

there are areas around here you can try but the old addage of walk before yu can run does apply. as a starter i'd look at oxwich...it has every thing, calm bay not too much current, a wreck stacked with fish, the moorings in the bay fish well, good drifts by the point, good drifts off the point....loads of species from dabs to tope!! you can use em in sully bay on small tides and a couple of guys i know use them off there regularly to get double figure congers, rays and codling. john __________________ Catch and Release fishing is a lot like a game of golf.
