any tell me what range of weights i will need to use for boat fishing around the thames area i will using all methods i.e. uptiding downtiding drifting ect the reason i ask i just bought a gemini mould and was wondering which size i would need the most it only goes up to 8 oz so i will probably buy a larger mould aswell, also which pattern mould should i get bell torpedo etc and size. thanks for any help have found this site very helpfull so far, and being realatively inexperienced you will probably here from me a lot in the near future.

Re: weights

hi baz,the tides are not too severe in the thames estuary, you are lucky, round the corner in the channel at dover or dungeness you would quite often have to use as much as a pound of lead, thats not much fun.somewhere like herne bay you could easily get away with 6 oz,4 oz on a slack tide, its not very deep out there,
i havnt done a great deal of uptiding but when i have i use a 5 oz breakaway or gemini without any problem,
best of luck matecheers

Re: weights

A 6-8oz uptide lead will ensure a good hook set from a running large Bass in the Thames Estuary.
