Re: which boat to buy ????

Hi Terry

I would suggest something like an Orkney Strikeliner or Longliner, both about 16ft and when fitted with a 15 to 20hp outboard should see you ok.
The Longliner is more a displacement boat so speed it will not have too much of so a smaller engine up to 10hp will be more than suitable.

I run a web site about buying boats and have reports from owners and other reports which may help you. http://www.fishing-boats.info

Don't forget that your safety gear will more than likely need replacing/updating. Flares, ropes, anchor, hand held compass, maps/charts of your area the list goes on.

Useful site for looking is boats and outboards to give you some idea of costs etc.

Good hunting

Coddy

Hi Coddy.

I just had a look at your site. I noticed that I wrote the report on the Arvor 25 Interestingly the other review on the Arvor 25 was a report published in Boat Fishing Monthly (I think). It was the exact boat that I bought from Andy Dodd. I wish that I have never sold her, as she was the best boat I have owned.

Re: which boat to buy ????

Hi Sean

Good to hear from you. I did once go up to your shop location but you had gone by then.

I think I read somewhere you have since left the area, hope you still manage to get a line wet sometimes. The IAC is still going strong and if you get a chance have a look on the web site, http://www.ukseafishing.org/

Best regards

Dave

Re: which boat to buy ????

Hi Dave.

I have moved over to Spain and I have been working as a charter skipper and fishing Guide for most of last year.
However it is likely that I will be moving back to the UK in the near future.

Sean.
