Milford Haven

Hi Guys my father is currently looking to buy a boat but the only berth we can find is 8 miles inside Milford Haven! Therefore we are looking at fast boats such as a 25ft Arvor so that we can get outta there fairly quickly. Does anybody know what the inshore fishinbg outta Milford Haven is like? And also what the fishing is like inside the haven. Im guessing theres flatfish and whiting in there during the winter but does it get anymore exciting that that?

Re: Milford Haven

An 8 mile treck to sea really sucks. My last boat was berthed at Royal Quays marina on the tyne....an excellent berth (all tides launching and 24/7 security)but it was over two miles from the harbour mouth...and at 4 knots its a long trip to sea

Re: Milford Haven

it does suck but i have been doing some research on the haven itself and what can be caught actually inside. there seems to be plenty of spots for ray, conger, pollack, bass, whiting, codling and mackerel so i guess it will do fine while we get used to using the boat and wait on a list for one of the marinas to have a berth come available! cant find a marina which offers 24/7 sailability with less than 6month waiting lists so far! apart from this one situated 8 miles inland!

Re: Milford Haven

Juan,

Six months waiting is good. Exmouth is three years and Tenby is an amazing 25 year waiting list !!

Re: Milford Haven

no way? tenby is tidal aswell??! i thought the hardest decision was gonna be choosing a boat but it seems the hardest thing is finding a suitable mooring!!!! anywhere in the country! lol
we are waiting on brixham, neyland, swansea and another one down south but i cant remember where right now....
we have been looking at the beneteau antares range and merry fishers which both look perfect in the 8m+ sizes, any opinions on these boats guys?

O.K.
I've built yatchs, ribs, power boats and day fishers for the last.. lots of years, I dont rate them mate. If they are any good they would be like gold-dust on the secondhand market and be top price

Re: Milford Haven

Good boats, well made, if you're buying new make sure to talk to the
builders, tell them what you want, don't give them a rough idea, fag packet drawing ect... they will try and help. Down side is cost, every alteration is going to add. Hope it helps a little
