What boat to buy? I will shortly be in the market to buy a Warrior 165 or similar. I have about 10k to spend so i`m looking for a used package with a 4 stroke on the back. Does anyone have any views on these boats and what size engine I should be looking for on the back? If not a warrior, then is there anything better out there for the same price?? I look forward to your views. Many thanks. __________________ Andy. ------------------- Treat each day as your last, one day you`ll be right.

Re: What boat to buy? Hi mate, We used to have a warrior before we got our Arvor and they are simply superb. We had a 60hse four stroke on the back and believe me thats plenty fast enough as you can stonk along at 30nots on a flat day or comfortably at 25. Wouldnt go any bigger in my own opinion because you probably wont use it - the warriors are top notch - Im sure youve looked but if you havent just stick in warrior on the web and look at the web site or check out boats and outboards. Very good value for money in my opinion. tommy __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up !

Re: What boat to buy? Check out my web site which has reports from owners etc. about their craft. Might be helpful when choosing a boat. http://fishing_boats.tripod.com/ Coddy ![]() __________________ A bad days fishing is better than a good day a work! Home web page: Fishing boats & Equipment

Re: What boat to buy? My personal preferance is a smaller boat , smaller engine , giving much better manouverability, and easier to get close to the rocks so as to battle with the pollacks and bass, for anyonewith not much money to spare i would recommend something like an orkney longliner with about a 10 hp engine and 4 hp auxillary, the boat i have is based on an orkney spinner but a ft longer and a slightly deeper keel it is 14 ftand i am able to go out when some 17 fters cant or not comfortably anyway, although the orkney make a 19 fter as well but cant remember the name , now that is stable, also like a 16 ft boat i have seen which is wider than the orkney, and i believe it is called a barry bass, but not certain , if any one knows any thing about themi would like to hear from them.

| Re: What boat to buy? Oh dear, buying a boat. My wife reminds me often that the price per pound of fish i catch must be 1000 times higher than buying caviare in the shops. However the price per pound of pleasure you get from owning one is priceless. Owning a boat is like throwing money at a hole in the water. Just do it or you'll always regret it. I think the warriors are just fantastic, I have a shetland because I have a mooring and need to leave a lot of stuff on board....hence need a big cabin. It will always be a compomise: trail it? moor it? deep sea marks? inshore marks? 5 fishermen? 2 fishermen? plaice? sharks? After trailing and mooring I would never trail a boat again. But we are all different and my boats hull is now covered in weed and needs scraping and antifouling....truly crap job. But it's there and ready to go whenever I am. I know Tommy had a Warrior and loved it but now has a moored boat. The other guy that replied has a smaller boat and trails it. There's room for us all to go fishing!!! Good luck. | Re: What boat to buy? sorry forgot, whatever you do make sure your budget includes two engines and keep them both serviced.. one big one and one that will fight any currents in your area and get you home. Jules. __________________ born to fish....forced to work |
