where can i beach fish in dover????

can anyone answer my above question? i went to dover before christmas (seems like ages ago now, i guess it was really!!) and the beach by the pier had a sign saying no fishing. it was the smaller pier, is it the admiralty? not too sure of the name. if any one can direct me to a beach where it is ok to fish i would be extremely greatfulo. Also, is beech fishing allowed over night at dover? and an even more stupid question, but as im sure you will apreciate, safety is important...does the tide come righ up, or is it ok to set a bivvey up and still be clear of high tide mark. a big thanks to anyone who replies, any info very much taken on board...tight lines, chris.

Re: where can i beach fish in dover????

hello chris,a lot of questions there,i will do my best for you
the beach you mention that is next to the smaller pier i presume is the one in the inner harbour, that is the one with the promenade behind etc,i have fished it in the past but to be honest it is not much good, the best beach in dover is the shakespeare beach which is to the west of the admiralty pier, this used to be a very good beach to fish but to be honest i'm not sure about it now,so much has changed down there in the last few years i don't hear many reports from there any more, getting to the beach may be difficult as well,
why choose the beaches at dover mate ? , there are far better beaches east and west of dover with much better fishing and access ,
why not try kingsdown, sandwich bay to the east or sandgate , hythe or even dungeness to the west, they are also better suited to bivvying up as well
wherever you decide to go give me a shout if you want any directions etc,
best of luck mate

Re: where can i beach fish in dover????

Kingsdown, Walmer, Deal, Sandown beaches and Sandwich Shallows are all just a few miles north-east of Dover. Mainly all fairly clean shingle beaches and all quite safe to fish providing of course the weather isn't completely over the top. You'l find plenty of places to pitch a bivvy. The shingle rises quite sharply along a lot of that stretch.

Thumbs up Re: where can i beach fish in dover????

There's some good fishing nearer to home for you Chris. I've had some great sessions around the Medway towns & even as far up as Gravesend. Should be plenty of Whiting there this time of year...

most of the medway towns and gravesend are tidal and unfishable at low tide chris
check your tide table if you are going there

Re: where can i beach fish in dover????

Hello Chrisfish,

Where in London are you?

Imran (Mule) and I are in West London and usually fish somewhere along the South coast. We go to places such as Southampton, Brighton, Christchurch, Chesil (Weymouth), Eastney (Portsmouth), Isle of Purbeck (Swanage).........

If you are close to us you would be very welcome to come along and join in the fun (so long as you are not like 10 and you're parents don't know...... you get the idea).

Cheers

AndyG

Re: where can i beach fish in dover????

Hi Andyg

Unfortunately, i am a bit older than 10, but i wish i was 10, life would be so simple!!!not haviing to worry about work and everything...sorry was daydreaming there, . Yeah thats sounds great to me, i will pack the car up one day and head down there. As you can see by my posts, i havent been a member on here long, is there a way of doing a private message to you to keep in touch? and if i do go, dont laugh at my poor equipment and lack of knowledge, as i am still learning!!

Oh, am in north london by the way, but dont mind driving down to where you all go.

Cheers guys, very friendly.
