Cornwall over Xmas?

I am off to the helston area a couple of days after Xmas for 5 days. I have fished newquay and porthleven before but not at this time of year. Does anyone one have any info, spots etc. I'm after dogfish and bass mainly. I much prefer beach/ rock fishing to all other types. Any advice apreciated.
