| worms falling off? Hi guys, chris again!! another bit of advice needed. on saturday when i was casting, occasionally the worm was spliting mid air during the cast and ending up not on the hook, when retrieved i only had a small piece attached still. its the first time i have used rag worm, and tried to hook them in different ways as i would with a lob, either just nicked on, or threaded up along the hook. where am i going wrong, or is this just life when using rag, as they seemed to be really soft and weak. thanks.ps, was using 4oz lead (i think) and a leader with 2 hooks, one up one down on pre bought rig. |

| Re: worms falling off? Use a baiting needle - thread them on and leave an inch or so dangling on the bottom of the hook - will never fall off ! If you are using clip down rigs then you also need some bait stops on the snood to stop the worm sliding up when casting .... |

like you were advised always clip your rigs and use the whole worm on your hook and where possible use bait elastic it's good for stopping crabs nicking your bait.as well tight lines andy... ![]() |

Bit of advice for you mate...Impact shields are great for protecting worm baits during a cast.... this is the best one, especially for ragworm...just before you cast (i presume you're on the beach or very close to water?) dip the ragworm in the water! simple as that! that ragworm will not fly off the hook mate...try it, it really does work... DON'T USE BAIT ELASTIC ON RAGWORM MATEY... |

| Re: worms falling off? dip them in water. to bind together so they dont fall off. also impact sheilds, bait clips, BB clips, loads more of these keep the bait on. just saw your post on dipping them in water. Last edited by Fisherdan; 12-04-2006 at 06:00 PM. Reason: noticed paul already said... |
