If you can make the South Coast in a couple of hours then Weston Shore in Southampton might be a good choice. It is a popular match venue. I guess it depends where in Leicestershire you are. It is pretty much motorway and dual carriageway all the way down for you. I regularly do South Coast to Lichfield in Staffordshire in just over 2hrs non-stop.

If you're interested, let me know and I'll pass on direction details for you. You will also need to apply for a licence to fish there if it is a proper match competition. Just for a days fishing you will not need a licence.

One other possibility might be somewhere on the Bristol Channel. Again motorway all the way for you. You would need some local knowledge though as the tides are massive and it could be dangerous if you do not know the area you are fishing.

Cheers DownSouth

Thanks for your input.

We had our meeting on Friday night and Society members decided to fish the East Yorkshire Coast. As this is a Societies members competition no licence would be required.
We do allow members to invite guests to fish with us, on the day, and normally run a pool so all would have something to gain. Not just a days fishing but to meet new faces. If any one is interested in fishing with us they would be most welcome. Contact John E on desfordsas@aol.com for more information.
