Piers and Tides - Deal!!

Hi there,

Only fished a couple of piers (Deal and Swanage) so am no expert. Going to try and get down to Deal this weekend but the tide is only around 5.8 and HT is at around 4pm, not ideal for fishing but does this matter for piers??

Thanks!!

I don't know much about pier fishing (or fishing in general) but i do know that ChrisM often fishes the Addy in Dover, I'd drop him a PM and see what he reckons.

Re: Piers and Tides - Deal!!

ive fished off lots of piers... 5.8 metres deep. ive fished of hamble jetty at 2 metres , catch fish lots of times. it should be ok... i usually cast one rod out and another right just below me. if its that shallow then cast out

Re: Piers and Tides - Deal!!

Piers will fish at any tide but will have a state of tide that fishes best normaly an hour or 2 before and after high water

Re: Piers and Tides - Deal!!

I fished Deal pier last year with FishyPaul and JohnBoy. The only thing to be aware of is the strong tidal pull from right to left when the tide is on the flood. At one point I was using 7oz grippers to hold bottom. Great place to fish though, if a little busy at times

Re: Piers and Tides - Deal!!

you can catch in all states of the tide at deal but it is definately best over the top of the tide mate,
best of luck for the weekend, get there early, its bound to be busy.

Re: Piers and Tides - Deal!!

Thanks for the advice! Do you think we'd be better off fishing the beach if it's busy?

Re: Piers and Tides - Deal!!

depends what you would like to catch really
if you want bass or flatfish then go for the beach but off the pier you will get further out to deeper water so will have more chance of a bottom feeding fish

i fished a 4pm tide on sunday that was 02.m lower than yours and it turned out ok... mind 5.8m is a big tide to me ( you can find the report of it on north east fishing reports)
