Fished last Sunday between the lighthouse and the sea wall 1 hour after the turn and all the way up. Blowing force 4/5 westerly but dry. Used a 2 hook clip down with rag and squid. Blanked . What annoyed me and some of the other anglers was the wind surfers walking between the marks to enter the water. One chap had his line broken 3 times and gave up and the chap next to me had his line snagged. What is wrong with these people? Do they think the beach belongs to them? They only had to go 50 yards towards the pier and they would be clear of everyone. Has anyone else had the same problems with these selfish acts. Its bad enough blanking without losing tackle as well.

Re: Burnham-on-Sea windsurfers. Yep they are always around here about 20 yards away from the pier kayakers aswel but they cant really catch your line part from on their necks! __________________

Similar problems on a beach recently. I went down at about 7.00pm figuring the sunbathers / paddlers / bbq's etc would be packing up. They were but there were about 5 groups left who managed to space themselves along the beach. I set up in the biggest gap I could find even though it wasn't the ideal location and as more groups left the beach moved further still and started fishing. Within 10 minutes the group I'd moved away from decided they could now expand their game of catch an extra 50m until they were only about 20m from me, they then started throwing the ball into the water and splashing about all the time getting closer until in the end one of the f*** wits ended up tangled in my line. They finally left only to be replaced by walkers. To try to maximise the amount of beach for everyone else I was set up as close to the water's edge as I could without getting wet and was moving back gradually as the tide came in which was pretty inconvenient but I felt would mean everyone could use the beach in harmony. Needless to say at least 4 groups of people decided to walk on the narrow strip of sand between my rods and the water or actually in the shallows, seemingly oblivious to the 2 12 foot long bits of carbon pointing to the water and to my warning shouts until actually walking into the line. Fortunately none of them were too badly garrotted! One group also decided that 5m away from me on a beach about 300m in length was the ideal place to throw stones into the water . Needless to say I quit after about 2 hours and blanked on an evening when the conditions looked to be near perfect!

Re: Burnham-on-Sea windsurfers. seems i'm not the only one to suffer. Might try rock hopping. Fishing is not a way of life - it's a religion.
